Heajoo (Yvonne) Lee

My interests in Fashion design & CMF design are creative & functional design, trend research and forecasting, and sustainability and biodegradable design. I am consistently engaging in projects and research by combining creativity and sustainability.

As an international with experiences from South Korea and the United States, I bring unique, multicultural, and international perspectives to the table. My experiences overcoming cultural differences and adapting to life in the United States also taught me to adapt to a new environment while fearlessly expressing my different perspectives. I have studied and worked exclusively within Fashion Design for the past eight years. Now I am extending my design journey in the CMF Design area how to analyze and understand every aspect of the color and materials process.

I had an experience to teach flat patterning and draping classes as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Fashion Design at Central Michigan University. Also, I had an experience of an internship at Komplique Inc. as an Assistant Designer to create original designs and pattern/print designs for women’s swimwear and dress. Cooperating with my colleagues and students, I have participated to present several garments and papers in many national/ international design competitions such as International Textiles and Apparel Association (ITAA), Cotton Inc., Manneq ART, and American Sewing Expo and received six awards and eight exhibitions. These experiences enable me to lead developing and understanding the creative design concepts and functional design processes to the practical application in the future fashion industry.
