TRANSFORMING THE SINGLE-USE COFFEE CUP LID
This design demonstrates how the waste from the café can be transformed into alternative materials for the single-use coffee cup lid. This design is a new chapter for the environment and circular economy beyond recycling goods by offering vertical integration within the café culture, ultimately closing the loop with a biodegradable outcome.
INITIAL IDEA
All ingredients from coffee shop such as coffee grounds, tea, milk, and spices will be a good source for being customized a bio-degradable coffee cup's lids.
Process
BIOPLASTIC COFFEE LID
The design sketch was created and clarified the size between embossed and intagliated mold using Tinkercad software. The final mold was developed by 3D printing.
MOLDING DEVELOPMENT
Present making a bioplastic by using ingredients from café to create the new accessible coffee cup lids to provide alternative suggestions environmentally and economically.
PERFORMANCE TEST
Shrink as water evaporates during the drying process and a low percentage of glycerin affects shrinking more. Also, Agar Powder is the more shrink, and gelatin powder is a low shrink.
