TRANSFORMING THE SINGLE-USE COFFEE CUP LID

This design demonstrates how the waste from the café can be transformed into alternative materials for the single-use coffee cup lid. This design is a new chapter for the environment and circular economy beyond recycling goods by offering vertical integration within the café culture, ultimately closing the loop with a biodegradable outcome.

 

INITIAL IDEA

All ingredients from coffee shop such as coffee grounds, tea, milk, and spices will be a good source for being customized a bio-degradable coffee cup's lids.

Process


BIOPLASTIC COFFEE LID

The design sketch was created and clarified the size between embossed and intagliated mold using Tinkercad software. The final mold was developed by 3D printing.


MOLDING DEVELOPMENT

Present making a bioplastic by using ingredients from café to create the new accessible coffee cup lids to provide alternative suggestions  environmentally and economically.


PERFORMANCE TEST

Shrink as water evaporates during the drying process and a low percentage of glycerin affects shrinking more. Also, Agar Powder is the more  shrink, and gelatin powder is a low shrink.
